This local council, based in Stroud, is working pro-actively with parish councils to help them develop the tools for managing future growth and change in their communities. The District Council is the first authority in Gloucestershire to have produced a comprehensive and up-to-date Local Plan and is now keen to ensure local communities benefit from this sound platform to enable them to plan for the future.

They are seeking someone with energy and passion to work with local communities to help bring forward neighbourhood development plans and orders and to assess nominations for assets of community value. You will be responsible for guiding parish councils through the processes, for assessing proposals and for recommending documents for approval.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have a suitable qualification in town planning and have experience of planning in the community.

Key to your success will be your ability to communicate the positive benefits of neighbourhood planning whilst advising and guiding stakeholders carefully through a sometimes complex and changing process. The ability to innovate and respond positively to change is essential. Whilst working as part of a pro-active Planning Strategy team, you will have the ability to work on your own initiative and to find creative solutions.

About us

The council's vision is leading a community that is making Stroud a better place to live, work and visit for everyone. You will be based at Ebley Mill, a historic mill building within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Working for them you will enjoy a range of benefits including access to free parking, generous holidays, access to the pension scheme, discounted gym memberships and family friendly policies which have been designed with employees in mind!
