An immediate opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join our client, based in London
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
-Work closely with stakeholders in implementing the project and provide direction as necessary with overall objective to ensure that IFRS 9 reporting is delivered through FTP platform.
-Analyse complex data sets and validate that financial reporting is in line with IFRS 9 requirements
-Validation of the result of impairment calculations with requirements, product system data inputs and assumptions.
-Support the UK CAO by provision of subject matter expertise in delivering key IFRS 9 project milestones and objectives.
-Undertake work on the new chart of accounts (Saracen 18) feedback and review challenge process.
-Design and implement the new IFRS 9 reporting processes and controls.
-Design and execute testing plans which are adequate to support the successful implementation of BAU reporting requirements under IFRS 9.
-Foster positive engagement and coordination between the IFRS 9 team, wider UK CAO, Risk, IT and other projects underway (FTP, Big Data, Ring Fencing, GSIBS) to ensure current and future reporting requirements are met.
-Reporting progress, risks, issues, actions and dependencies effectively to IFRS 9 Project Lead and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes/skills:
-Qualified accountant eg ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
-Good knowledge of IFRS 9 reporting and accounting requirements.
-Experience in analysis, testing and remediation of complex data sets.
-Strong appreciation of change delivery combined with experience in defining and embedding new process and controls in a financial reporting environment
-Proven skills in liaising with SMEs, Finance and Risk teams across multiple disciplines
-Strong stakeholder and team management skills, whilst able to succeed in an environment with complex subject matter and implementation plans
-Comprehensive banking product knowledge, including IFRS accounting treatment for banking products.
-Understanding of the complex and demanding data requirements and specifications needed to support financial/regulatory disclosures.
-Pro-active approach to process improvement,change management and ability to challenge the status quo
