Previous bookkeeping or accounts experience is not necessary for this entry level role, as on the job training will be provided. It is essential that you have good IT skills and are able to use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently. Working as part of a talented team, the role for a Junior Bookkeeper is involved with assisting with the bookkeeping and preparation of VAT returns for a variety of clients within an accountancy practice. As your experience grows, you will become responsible for more complex assignments and there will also be an opportunity for you to become exposed to the preparation of management accounts for a number of clients. Key roles and responsibilities: • Undertake bookkeeping and the preparation of draft VAT returns using Sage or other appropriate accounting software, including Cloud based solutions • Ensuring that client records are correctly maintained in accordance with the common systems used by the firm • Accurately recording time spent on assignments using the firm time management software • Carry out any other duties assigned by the partners / outsourcing solutions manager as may reasonably be required Although the majority of work will be office based, there is a possibility that some work will be undertaken on clients' premises. As both the Outsourcing Team and firm continue to grow, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to start their career within an accounting environment. For the right person, we may be able to provide assistance towards studying for the AAT qualification after an initial qualifying period. You; Although initially supervised closely, it is essential that the person we employ is able to work independently and use their initiative. You will be confident enough to deal with clients and able to answer questions as necessary. However, you will also know when it is necessary to pass questions back to the Outsourcing Solutions Manager or Partner. Our clients are our greatest resource, with over 95% of new business being generated from their recommendations. As such it is crucial that the person we employ has excellent written and spoken English, good communication skills and will provide a friendly and professional service to clients. Due to the location of the office you will need to be a car driver and hold a full, driving licence.
