Our client is an established and leading provider of accountancy and financial services. As Chartered Accountants, Registered Auditors and Independent Financial Advisers our client delivers a trusted and valued service to clients that require an expert view and a joined up approach to their finances.

Position Summary:

Maintaining the records of various clients using multiple software systems including Xero, Receipt Bank, Sage, QB online and to be highly competent in the use of Excel where necessary. You must be able to communicate with clients and staff at all levels in a confident and courteous manner.


* To maintain various company's bookkeeping records.
* To maintain the sales ledger and reconcile the income for various customers.
* To maintain the purchase ledger to include reconciliation of supplier accounts to statements and requesting missing information where necessary.
* To process staff expenses.
* Process various journals
* To process all banking and credit card transactions on a regular basis and ensure accurate reconciliation is maintained.
* To accurately apply current VAT legislation where applicable to ensure the on-going accuracy of the records. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns via the government gateway.
* To prepare petty cash summaries and post to the software used
* Reconciliation of intercompany balances.
* Reconciling the PAYE, Net Pay, Gratuities and Pension controls within the software
* To ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are performed in a timely manner.
* To take direction from the company accountants to prepare bookkeeping work accurately to ensure they are prepared in accordance with the management reporting requirements.
* To effectively plan and prioritise workloads to ensure targets are achieved consistently
* To abide by statutory and company regulations regarding Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime, Fire, Health & Safety, Security, Data protection and confidentiality.


* Must have a good working knowledge of Xero and Sage Line 50
* Proven communication and people skills, able to develop positive relationships with clients
* Effective time management and administration skills.
* Computer literate including Word, Excel and Outlook.


* Minimum 5 GCSE's or equivalent including Maths and English A-C
* Relevant GNVQ or equivalent (not essential)
* Part or fully qualified AAT or equivalent (not essential)
* Qualified by experience

* Level headed, capable of keeping order in a busy working environment
* Self motivated, able to independently prioritise
* The ability to challenge what is considered acceptable
