SEN Teaching Assistant

A wonderful SEN school located in Plymouth who cater for young people with special educational needs such as PMLD and additional complex needs, require a competent and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to start in January. Your role will involve working with young people with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis as well as supporting the class teacher with smaller groups of young people.

The success of this school is down to the 1:1 provision for their pupils, so classes are small and effective. Young people within these classes can be non verbal, so knowledge of PECS and Makaton is both useful and an advantage. Additional training will be provided, but current experience will be an advantage in being shortlisted.

Requirements:
- the ability to actively plan, organize and manage workload
- to display robust self management skills with regards to problem solving
- experience of successfully working with young people with PMLD
