Clements Grey has engaged with a key manufacturer based in Wiltshire who manufacturer special purpose machinery and material handling equipment. They currently have a requirement for a Design Engineer/Draughtsman to join their expanding team on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose:
To provide Engineering Drawings, Bills of Materials and Installation Operating and Maintenance Manuals for new and current Valve projects and orders, to agreed criteria, quality and timescales.

Key Result Areas and Core Objectives:

Drawing Office

• Undertake investigations as necessary to provide cost effective solutions.
• Provide design concepts and layouts as required to meet Sales brief(s).
• Produce designs and drawings to meet the requirements of the company and its customers; and assist with process/purchase technicalities as required.
• Complete FEA and CFD analysis for products as required.
• Produce Installation, Operating and Maintenance manuals to meet customers' needs and production requirements.
• Modify designs/drawings when required that improve companies products.
• Issue and control of drawings to company procedures, maintenance of filing systems and general office housekeeping.
• Control parts identification and BOM compilation.
• Check own work for accuracy and completeness.
• Understanding of electrical items in order to facilitate specification and testing of products and other 3rd party items fitted to valves.
• Understanding of ATEX implications on valve designs/drawings.

Cross-functional Support and Communications
• Provide support for Access Supply Chain Item Maintenance and Bill of Material functions as appropriate.
• Assist Technical Engineer in Product development and re-design projects
• Actively encourage good working relationships throughout the company, promoting cross-functional and inter-departmental harmony.
• Follow design detail through manufacture to product release, problem solving and assisting others as necessary.

Health and Safety
• Maintain an acceptable level of departmental tidiness and organization.
• To take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
• To co-operate with companies H&S to enable the company to perform its duties as required by legislation and good practice.

Job and Personal Skills:
• Mechanical Engineering experience, with an emphasis on rotating machines.
• Effective in communication.
• Self-motivated and able to work using own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Good IT awareness and competent with CAD systems.
• Ability to "problem solve", with a creative and cost conscious approach.
• Ability to manage own workload ensuring targets and objectives are met.
• Ability to improve one's own performance where ever possible.
• Understanding of basic electrical concepts in order to facilitate specification and testing of product.
