A Maintenance Operative is required to join our team in Birmingham. This is a full time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week. The rota is to work 5 days out of 7, including 1 in 3 Saturdays. WHAT THE MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE JOB INVOLVES: The Maintenance Operative role is a varied and challenging one where no one day is the same. As a Maintenance Operative, working within a friendly and supportive team you will be playing a vital role in ensuring that students living in our properties have a great experience. Covering a number of our properties, you will be: Providing reactive and planned maintenance servicesResolving a variety of general maintenance issues and problems including but not limited to:Working with suited locking systems, both mechanical and electronicWindow and door repairsBasic plastering for example repairing holes in wallsBasic domestic plumbingCompleting like-for- like electrical changes, including safety isolationCompleting planned inspections and rectifying any remedial worksEnsuring that all works are conducted to the highest safety and quality standards and in line with regulationsFulfilling the varied administration and auditing requirementsFollowing up on customer or property related issues WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU: Although you may not have worked in the accommodation industry before, what is really important to us is that you: Have previous experience of reactive and planned maintenanceHave experience in a customer facing roleHave developed an understanding of Health and Safety legislationPossess a full UK driving licenceAre a first class team player who demonstrates a positive and collegiate attitudeCan work flexible hours (including some weekends), taking part in the on call rotaThrive on understanding, empathising and delivering against customer needsPossess strong communication skills and can build relationships effectivelyAre computer literate (training will be provided for the use of our PDA system)Are able to work at a fast pace, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracyHave excellent personal time management and prioritisation skillsAre self-motivated and able to work on your initiative About Unite Students Unite Students revolutionised student housing in 1991, opening the first private and large-scale accommodation, created specifically for students.
