Our client is an independently owned and highly successful technology led manufacturing group with their Head Office based in West Yorkshire. Engaged in the design and manufacture of precision instrumentation assemblies and components, they supply bespoke solutions to the Space, Aerospace, Defence, Scientific Instruments, Optical and Medical Device sectors.

This is primarily an office based position and will operate at the fulcrum of the commercial function engaging with other account managers, business developers, sales administrators alongside the broader interaction with the engineering, operations, quality and finance teams

The Account Manager will be responsible for understanding the customers’ operational business needs and working with them on a day-to-day basis to service and deliver against agreed contractual requirements.  The successful candidate will champion the customer internally; driving all aspects of contract implementation across the organisation functions encompassing commercial, technical, operations, quality and finance.  The Account Manager will also be required to develop effective continuous improvement activities in order to improve the customer’s experience.

Essentially the Account Manager will act as the main point of contact of the customer during the delivery of the order and the many different stages in the order cycle encompassing order receipt, preparation of documentation, review and analysis of any amendment requests, liaison with operations and engineering teams ensuring planned delivery dates are met and managing the ongoing delivery of aftercare services.

The Account Manager will be required to:

  • Develop effective customer engagement techniques.
  • Successfully plan and implement customer contracts
  • Deliver aftercare in a customer services environment
  • Work with a variety of customer’s operational business systems
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Work to KPIs and associated reporting

With highly tuned communication skills you must have excellent attention to detail and an aptitude for interpreting engineering information and understanding contractual requirements. Previous experience of dealing with overseas customers and different business cultures would be an advantage as would an understanding of scientific, analytical, medical and life sciences market sectors.
