As a Truck Parts Salesperson your duties will include:

  • Provide a first class customer service by responding to customer needs in a timely and efficient manner.  Exceed customer expectations by continually reviewing our strategy in response to market changes
  • Have excellent parts interpretation skills
  • Possess excellent knowledge of manufacturer EPC’s and in particular: Mercedes, DAF, Volvo, Scania, Renault, Iveco and MAN
  • Have good commercial aptitude to close the sale and maximise margins
  • Quickly learn our departmental procedures, including (not exhaustive):
    • Our telephone system and protocol
    • Resolving customer queries and complaints inc service disputes etc
    • Warranty claims
    • Trade counter sales
    • Customer quotations
    • Customer surcharges, inc chasing of key accounts
    • Knowledge of Autopart
    • Recording of lost sales
    • Application of delivery charges
    • Selling levels
    • Validation of customer details
    • Same day delivery protocol
    • Liaison with depots
    • Customer back orders
    • Payment methods and protocol, including credit limits, credit application forms, payment terms and on stop policy etc.
    • Returns
    • General administration and filing etc
  • Additional duties as and if directed (not exhaustive):
    • Creation of application menus
    • Range extension
    • Provide coaching to new staff as directed
    • Contribution to departmental procedures manual
    • Security of building, including opening/locking up at required times
    • Make local focal deliveries
  • Keep up to date with market changes, including vehicle applications and supplier catalogues.
  • Attendance at trade exhibitions as required.

An ideal Truck Parts Salesperson will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Have a number of years’ experience within a CV Motor Factor environment
  • Excellent Parts Interpretation skills
  • A great communicator
  • A Customer Service champion
  • You will have worked within a CV parts environment for at least 2 years
  • Knowledge of the parts aftermarket
  • Familiarity with Commercial Vehicle EPC’s
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Methodical approach to solving customer requirements speedily, using the resources at your disposal
  • Excellent IT skills
  • High levels of literacy and numeracy
  • A team player
  • Embracing of change and willing to learn new skills
