Job Title: Senior Case Officer
Hours: Full-time (Flexible working may be considered) FTC 6 months (possible extension)
Starting Salary: GBP29,650 - GBP35,113 pa (depending on skills)
(Plus a benefit allowance of GBP1,300 per annum)
Location: High Holborn, London
Our client regulates barristers and their professional practice and specialised legal services businesses in England and Wales in the public interest. They are responsible for setting education and training requirements, setting standards, authorising organisations, monitoring the service provided, and handling complaints. The Investigations and Hearings team is responsible for investigating complaints against barristers, taking disciplinary or other action on behalf of the Professional Conduct Committee.
They are looking to appoint a full time role for a qualified barrister, solicitor (or equivalent) within the team. They will process a caseload including the most complex of cases and be responsible for case preparation including investigating complaints, drafting charges and reports, gathering evidence and preparing bundles, corresponding with barristers, complainants and witnesses. They will also be required to attend hearings and support counsel in the prosecution of cases and appeals before the High Court.
Experience of legal procedures or litigation and substantial experience of casework is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting other members of staff. Knowledge of regulatory procedures and experience of working for a regulator is desirable but not essential.
