A graduate position to process planning applications and related development management work and to carry out a range of planning policy and planning consultancy work

Key Responsibilities:

* to carry out a range of development management, planning policy and planning consultancy work;
* to undertake the processing of planning and other related applications, together with the preparation of reports and recommendations in a professional and efficient manner to ensure that they adhere to adopted policies and practices;
* to prepare evidence in respect of appeals, including acting as an expert witness as necessary, against the planning decisions relating to planning matters;
* to provide development management and planning policy advice, both oral and in writing to all clients and other users of the service including applicants, agents and the general public;
* to prepare and submit planning applications and associated documents for a range of clients
* to assist in ensuring that the service establishes and maintains good business and public relations;
* to provide excellent customer service to all clients and to help build good relationships with them through the production of high quality work and by acting in a professional manner;
* to support the service to win new and repeat business by helping with the submission of bids, proposals and by producing high quality work;
* to undertake all work in accordance with a costed work programme maintaining and seeking to improve profitability at all times
* undertake other such duties and responsibilities as may be required;

Location

This role will be based in our offices in North Tyneside. However, some travelling may be required to other Capita or client's office.

Requirements: (Essential)

* Recently qualified graduate with a relevant qualification (Degree or equivalent)
* Good presentation and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Sound understanding of the planning process
* Ability to work with a range of clients to deliver a professional and high quality service.
* Sound understanding and experience of using word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet packages

Requirements: (Desirable personal qualities)

* Student Member or Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute produce high quality work;
* Car driver with current driving licence
* Work collaboratively with other business units in Capita
* Experience of working in a town planning office
