The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are currently looking for a Policy Development Manager to join our team on a contract lasting up to 12 months.

In this exciting role, you'll join our Operational Policy Team, who ensures that the RNLI has the right resources, in the right place, working in the right way to most effectively save lives at sea.

They translate the business strategy into a framework within which the organisation can deliver against its core modes of operation which are to rescue, influence, supervise and educate as well as generate funds, so as to achieve the objective of reducing fatalities around the coast by 50% by 2024.

As the Policy Development Manager, you'll play an essential part in ensuring this small and agile team can meet the high demands of the organisation by writing and managing policy, investigating, researching and reporting, monitoring risk and maintaining documentation.

You will manage a small policy writing team who are responsible for policy writing, research, policy management and implementation systems, as well as ad-hoc activities to support the work of the Operational Policy Team.

To be considered, you must have:

- Experience and expertise in policy writing and research
- Line management experience
- Strong project management skills

Proactive and highly organised, as the Policy Development Manager, you must have a strategic mind-set, exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced working environment.

An understanding of maritime operations, search and rescue or integrated risk management would be beneficial, but is by no means essential.
