Our client is a successful, well established provider of flooring and interior design services to the housebuilding industry. Based in West Yorkshire but servicing clients throughout the UK the business is predominately B2B with many long standing clients. The business is looking to recruit a flooring planner/ estimator to work as part of the head office team.

The Role

Based at the Head Office in Wetherby this will be a varied and interesting role designed to provide the information required to quote for, price and ultimately carry out our flooring activities.

Our client employs specialist software to carry out the planning/estimating process. The successful candidate will use this software to enable the digitalisation of either architects drawings or CAD plans which then enables the specific product requirements of a job to be calculated.

Having produced the product requirements this information is then fed into the company’s pricing models in order to complete the tender/quotation process. The successful candidate will be responsible for both the planning/estimating process and the drafting of fully costed quotations.

The role requires regular contact with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors as well as working closely with colleagues from both the sales and finance functions.

In addition the successful candidate may be called on to carry out other tasks on an ad-hoc basis.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be someone who is both comfortable working with computers whilst also having a practical nature in order to interpret the plans from which they will be working. In addition, given the commercial importance of this role, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the attention to detail and organisation skills that are so important in this work.

The ability to interact and communicate effectively with people both internally and externally is also of importance as there will be the need to liaise with many people in the day to day activities of this role.

You will be a self-starter with a positive “can do” attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.

Strong IT skills - must be comfortable with learning a new software package as well as using the usual MS Office products

Commercially Aware

Whilst previous experience within the carpeting/flooring industry or working with planning software would be an advantage it is not essential and therefore we welcome applications from people with no experience in the flooring industry but who can demonstrate the core skills required..

Working hours Monday - Friday  8.30am -5.00pm - one hour lunch

21 days holiday (rising to 23 after 5 years) plus bank holidays
