Research and Development Engineer - Additive Manufacturing

A Research and Development Engineer is required to join a leading global supplier of precious metal products. As part of the business they have formed a unique strategic partnership with Electro Optical Systems (EOS GmbH) in order to provide a complete additive manufacturing solution to the jewellery and watch making industries.

They have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join their Additive Manufacturing team.

The main responsibilities of the role will be:

- To work as part of a team to develop their Direct Metal Laser Sintering, DMLS, equipment to its full potential.
- Become the operating expert and cascade competence to the required team members.
- The development and creation of optimised parameter sets for new materials on the DMLS equipment.
- To establish, develop and implement a formal trial programme for process variables and review and evaluate the results of the build.
- Support development and production of gas atomised powders for DMLS and other industrial applications.

Overseas travel will be involved in this role. The successful candidate will work closely with their partners, EOS who are based in Germany, to ensure that all available best practice is transferred and incorporated into their product offering. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to provide technical advice to customers and other project stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have an engineering/science degree and expertise in additive manufacturing and/or powder metallurgy. You will be passionate, have a strong attention to detail and offer an enthusiastic can do attitude.
