Technical Sales and Account Manager / Engineer

We are a company based in Ilkeston Derbyshire which is best described as being one of the UK’s largest specialists in motor inverter drive systems, with an average annual turnover of £3.5 million.  Using our extensive knowledge and experience we provide applications to save energy, improve systems and reduce equipment wear and tear.  We carry a large inverter stock and have our own installation teams and operate 24/7 to ensure we are able to deliver outstanding customer service.

As a Technical Sales and Account Manager / Engineer , you will have the opportunity to join our Sales and Marketing team in Ilkeston. You will play a key role developing and maintaining our business relationships with OEM and wholesalers and in supporting sales / business development activities across the business. Reporting directly to the Head of Sales and Marketing , your specific areas of responsibility will be to manage our customer relationship with key East Midlands customers and to develop strong relationships with customers for several emerging sales, install, service, repair and equipment hire opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for all non-water business development and bid activity for customers.
  • Development and management of positive, effective and open relationships with key customers, including acting as the main customer point of contact for all customer issues.
  • Identification and delivery of business development opportunities for these customers.
  • Pipeline management and forecasting for your areas of responsibility (including financial and resource forecasts).
  • Customer engagement across the client base which will involve regular travel to client locations to develop and build customer relationships and prospecting.
  • Support communication across the business; especially working with the Project Management team to turn quotations into specifications.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to develop sales strategies to improve market share across the portfolio.


  • Customer relationship management, previous experience in a customer facing role is a strong requirement.
  • Strong communication skills, externally and internally, with the ability to communicate at management level in concise definitive terms.
  • Able to organise a complex set of items and prioritise into manageable issues for action, analysis or resolution.
  • Business to business sales and account management experience.
  • Technical sales experience; preferably with an understanding of engineering systems.
  • Experience in business administration and operation of a CRM system is desirable.

The benefits:

Salary between £25,000.00 and £35,000.00 with attractive bonus structure, company car, mobile phone and laptop.
