Senior Accountant

One of the UK's top 50 accountancy firms is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to work within thier Business and Private department at their Colchester office; preparing accounts for companies, drafting corporation tax computations and returns, preparing VAT returns, and providing a hands on compliance role that meets or exceeds client expectations and supports the management team.

Main duties to include:
• Preparation of company accounts and corporate tax returns
• Takes an active role in business development, and promoting the firm in the local area
• Achieve deadlines and understands the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service
• Preparing accounts for SMEs, large partnerships and sole trades
• Preparing computations and returns
• Reviewing accounting and tax work prepared by others
• Managing workload and client expectations
• Working within budgets

Skills:
• Qualified (AAT, ACA, ACCA) or close to qualification
• Strong organisational skills
• Networking skills
• Proactive in identifying practical solutions to internal and client issues
• Be able to operate at a high level of confidentiality
• Previous experience in an accountancy practice
• Experience with the Microsoft suite package
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities

The successful candidate will have the responsibility for all aspects of their clients work and opportunity to get involved in business development activity.

Ideally you will have experience of Caseware, Alphatax, Sage, and similar programmes.
