Night Transport Planner/Controller

We are looking for experienced Transport Controller to work nights for a leading company within the chauffeur sector. The company has a long history of customer satisfaction for numerous multinational companies, arranging corporate events and airport transfers.

Location: Runcorn – Cheshire
Salary: 21,000.00 – 24,000.00
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the jobholder will manage the efficient planning and recording of customer bookings in line with customer requirements and will provide the interface between Customers, Service Partners and the internal Planning Team. Liaise with Drivers and Service Partners to agree and schedule the transport requirements to fulfil customer bookings.

A brief description of the work for which you are employed is:

  • Allocate work to drivers/vehicles
  • Ensure driver shift patterns are adhered to and minimise driver overtime and empty running
  • Monitor all bookings and deal with any problems that might arise throughout the night/shift
  • Monitor flights and provide updates to drivers
  • Monitor jobs for any late despatches or potential problems
  • Ensure all drivers are signed on, ready for shift/work. Chase any drivers up that aren’t signed on
  • Liaise with SP/Agents as required and book transfers with SP/Agents if needed
  • Fire Jobs to PDA’s or ring drivers to advise of job(s) for following day
  • Check through bookings for following day for any special requirements i.e. child seats or VIP clients/passengers
  • Liaise with drivers regarding their work and other general enquiries/queries
  • Good customer service/care
  • Accurate use of the companies database

Knowledge And Experience:
Successful candidate’s should have a solid educational background and be numerate and literate. Strong IT skills are required, including intermediate knowledge of MS Office. Experience working in a transport planning/logistics is essential. The successful applicants should be able to make sound and reasoned decisions using data from multiple sources, and be an effective relationship builder. Should be comfortable speaking with customers and suppliers and be able to create a high level of trust between commercial ad operational teams. Logical, with a structured approach and excellent administrative and organisational ability, the jobholder should be customer focused, have high levels of initiative, and be capable of working to tight timescales under pressure.
