Chief Technology Officer

The position is:

• A permanent full time post
• 40 hours per week
• £100,000 per annum
• Location - Swansea, UK

Calon Cardio-Technology Ltd
Calon is a Swansea based company developing a heart pump to be directly implanted into a failing heart.

Job Description:

• To lead the company’s technological development, specifically in the field of Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) systems.
• Responsibility for all product research, development, and design engineering functions, along with the associated technical resources of Calon, to create technology value.
• Assure that the technology and product development objectives of Calon are clearly documented, including timelines, and accurately communicated to the company’s CEO and Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering (Bioengineering) Degree from a recognized University, EU or US.
• Minimum of 5 years’ direct experience of permanent Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) manufacturing processes with emphasis on new product development.
• Minimum 5 years’ direct experience of permanent VAD product development, and design controls, as required for European and US regulatory approval.
• Minimum of 5 years’ direct experience of product manufacturing and product development under a Quality Management System as required for a Class 3 Medical Device.
• Have prepared, and submitted, at least one US FDA Investigational Device application.

Critical Thinking, Data and Technological Analysis, Interpersonal and Motivational, Team Building, Research (as it pertains to medical devices), Digital Electronics, Computational, Written and Oral Communication Skills, Public Speaking and Presentation.

• CAD and FEA (SolidWorks)
• ISO 13485, ISO 14971, ISO 14644, IEC 60601, FDA 21CFR, AIMDD
• SQL
• MS Office including MS Project
• Technical writing
• LabVIEW
• Photoshop
