A *Female Rehabilitation Assistant/Psychology Assistant is required to support our client who lives just outside Dorchester, Dorset. She is a sociable young girl born in 2006 who has Speech and Language difficulties, a learning disability and epilepsy with associated respiratory difficulties as the result of a brain injury. Our client lives with her mother, father and younger brother. Our client enjoys yoga, colouring, swimming, singing, music and visits to the park.
Role Overview:
The candidate will be required to implement therapeutic strategies under the direction of therapists and assist with all aspects of our client's daily living to ensure her care needs are met and enabling her to pursue a fulfilling lifestyle. In liaison with the clinical psychologist, the role will involve assessing the client's needs, abilities or behaviour using a variety of methods including direct observation of behaviour and reporting back.
Rehabilitation Assistant/Psychology Assistant Attributes:
- *Female - Personal care required
- *Physically fit to assist during sporting activities with our client
- Confident working in a family home and sensitive to the needs & wishes of the client and her family
- Able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality & privacy
- Experience of working with children with special needs preferable
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Good observation and planning ability
- Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important whilst remaining focused on the task in hand.
- Car driver - essential. A full clean driving licence is desirable, any endorsements to be disclosed.
- Non Smoker
Hours:
24 hours per week to be worked as follows during term time:
- Wednesday and another weekday evening, 3pm - 10pm
- Another weekday evening, 5pm - 10pm
- 5 hour shift on a Saturday or Sunday each week
You will also be required to support our client during the school holidays. During the school holidays the shift pattern will vary from that in term time in that longer shifts will be worked over less days. This will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
Remuneration:
£12.00 per hour, Monday - Sunday. Ongoing training and support provided. Free DBS check. Clinical supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist.
