Job Description

To manage the day-to-day efficient running of the fresh fruit factory shift operations to deliver competitive advantage, optimising customer service, innovation, quality and cost in a safe working environment.

Specific responsibilities include delivering all factory KPIs with a well-trained team whilst supporting and delivering a culture of continuous improvement and development.

Accountabilities:

Factory Shift Performance – Control all aspects of the factory manufacturing operation through the efficient management of a team of factory team leaders and operatives, coupled with the usage of all raw materials, ensuring all customer specification requirements are adhered to at all times.

Budget Control - Continuously review the detail behind each cost centre of the budget to ensure accurate control and forecasting, whilst ensuring control of expenditure on overheads and direct labour in line with business limits.

Strategic Planning - Continuously challenge & review operations to implement improvement initiatives. This includes preparing and implementing capital investment projects, coupled with ensuring future demands from customers, legislative bodies etc. are met in full.

Generic Management Responsibilities - Ensure full compliance with all Human Resource Management Policies and Procedures, contribute to upkeep of weekly Human Resources statistics.

Education, Experience and Capabilities:

  • Relevant level of education - degree level desirable.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate desirable. 
  • IT literate.
  • Production management within the food industry, minimum 2-3 years.
  • Demonstration of Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrable understanding of budgetary control and financial awareness.
  • Adhere to Company Financial procedures.
  • Respect individual and Company confidentiality rights.
  • Demonstrate a positive and committed attitude.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and site team development.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach.
