Software Engineer (Mobile Development)

Our client seeks a talented Software Engineer to join their mobile development team based in the centre of Dundee. As part of the mobile development team, you will be working across both iOS and Android platforms on a variety of exciting new projects for the insurance and automotive sectors.

We are looking for candidates who can work well in a small, agile team, while also being able to work autonomously when required.

The Software Engineer will be responsible for the development of cross-platform code with a focus on modular, configurable functionality; produce features adhering to platform-specific best practices; proactive involvement in code reviews, testing & bug fixing; and continuous improvement of existing code base.

You will have knowledge of C++, Objective C and Java, excellent problem solving skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, degree educated in Computer Science or equivalent experience and past experience developing software for both iOS and Android.

Candidates will ideally have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, knowledge of Android and iOS native capabilities (device instruments, networking, APIs etc.), knowledge of Lua, Cocos2d-x and python, experience with Git and Perforce, an understanding of software design patterns for developing clean interfaces across multiple platforms, familiar with RESTful interfaces to communicate with external services and experience working in an agile environment.

Although we'd prefer someone with at least 2 years' experience in a similar mobile development role, we will also open this opportunity to recent graduates.
