THE BUSINESS NEED

With a strong presence in the European financial markets, and a rapidly growing presence in the North American and Asian markets the company is now looking to increase its market share globally and become the number one provider of index client solutions globally.

THE IT BUSINESS ANALYSIS TEAM

A role has arisen for a technology or data focused business analyst to join the IT Business Analysis team of this rapidly growing organisation. The role would be responsible for the analysis and preparation of business and functional requirements for Real Time index calculation and corporate systems working with project managers and stakeholders across the business.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual will be responsible for assisting in the successful delivery of strategic initiatives through accurate and detailed analysis of data, system and business needs, capturing and presenting the requirements and managing stakeholder expectations throughout the project cycle.

Key areas of responsibility are:

Understanding the business need and executing business analysis, systems and data analysis to enable a suitable solution which will meet the business need.
Preparation and management of documentation including business and functional requirements, system requirements and traceability Matrix.
Performing analysis on existing systems and databases to identify options for potential solutions and assessing both technical and business suitability.
Working closely with Development teams to ensure requirements are understood and proposed solutions are fit for purpose.
Supporting the QA and UAT teams to ensure thorough understanding of requirements as well as providing advice or clarification on any issues raised during test cycles.
Accurate preparation of written business correspondence and documentation that is coherent, factually and grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging.
Has a good knowledge of SQL to analyse database objects and perform data analysis to elicit and/or support requirements and specify data interfaces.
Understands expectations that were set with internal and external customers and recognises when issues/events may affect delivery by escalating to team lead and project manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Experience working in a market data centric and/or Back Office role, ideally in a financial services institution.
Strong data analysis and requirements gathering skills, both business and systems focussed with the ability to understand relations between data sets, prepare sample data, define and review financial calculations and prepare data mappings.
Experience of defining data definitions and data dictionaries.
Experience of querying database tables using SQL.
Ability to supplement requirements with visuals such as data flow, swim-lane, process flow and timeline diagrams.
Knowledge and experience of SDLC, as well as Waterfall and Agile (SAFE) project delivery methods.
Excellent Microsoft Office, document management (eg SharePoint) skills.
Experience of using Jira and Kanban

Advantageous Experience:

Knowledge of Equities and/or Fixed Income instruments, corporate actions, related market data and products
Presentation of calculation equations
Index design and how indices are used by financial institutions
System requirements and technical design; software development
