Job Description

Social Worker (Permanent) (PKC02492)
£26,884 - £29,409 (29 Hours per week)
Colonsay Resource Centre, Perth

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker working in a Children & Families team. You will have responsibility for statutory social work cases and will carry your own caseload.

The team covers child & family work within Perth city and surrounding countryside.

The post offers the opportunity to work with children at home with their families in the community, children who are looked after and accommodated and those who are on the child protection register. Parenting and family work, assessment and care-planning, and working within the Children's Hearing system are all key tasks of the role. In line with the principles of 'Getting it Right for every Child' , inter-agency working is central to the work. There are a number of resources and services to draw upon in supporting local children and young people.

Continuous professional development and training opportunities relevant to the post are offered.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure you provide contact details (preferably e-mail addresses) for two referees, one should be your current or most recent employer. However, if you are an existing employee of Perth & Kinross Council, you are only required to provide reference details for your current employer.

Please APPLY ONLINE. Facilities are available at all public libraries in Perth and Kinross. If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments, please call 01738 475555 to discuss.

The Individual

You will have a non-judgmental approach, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be skilled in prioritising your work commitments appropriately and be able to write clear and coherent reports for a variety of decision-making forums. Working as part of a team is an essential part of the post and so evidence of good team working is helpful. You will be flexible about working hours and open to the new challenges that the post will bring. If you are a newly qualified worker, you should be able to evidence a commitment to working towards these skills.

For further information on this post, please contact Julie Baker on 01738 477611.

As part of our safer recruitment measures, Perth & Kinross Council carries out rigorous checks on the right to work in the UK, qualifications, employment history, including references, and fitness to undertake the post.

Some jobs may have been traditionally carried out predominately by one gender, but we would encourage you to apply if you meet the requirements, irrespective of your gender.
