Hastings Direct is a fast growing, agile, digitally focused general insurance provider to the UK market, with over 2.2 million customers and employing over 2,600 colleagues at sites in Bexhill, Leicester and Newmarket.

As our newest site based in Leicester city centre continues to expand, we are looking to recruit our first technical claims colleagues across a variety of areas including intervention, hire, third party property damage and personal injury. We are building a market leading claims capability across our sites in Bexhill and Leicester. This is an opportunity to join at the beginning of our expansion into our Leicester site and help shape teams and results.

The expansion of our technical claims teams is a key part of our 'Fit For Growth' transformation, refocusing our claims teams to deliver a significantly stronger level of service for our claiming customers. Making the claims journey far more straight forward and is key to us achieving our ambition to protect 1 in 10 by 2020. Our claims growth into our Leicester office is to add to what we already have in our Bexhill headquarters.

What we're looking for:

-Experience within a motor claims handling role, preferably within third party claims

-We're looking for people with great communication and negotiation skills and a real passion for developing their technical skills and helping their colleagues to do the same

-People who can build rapport with the customer through effective communication via telephone (incoming and outbound calls) and written correspondence, keeping them updated of all material developments.

-People who look to make the customer journey a seamless progression until completion of the claim

-A 'can do' attitude towards work

-The ability to work under own authority in accordance with set referral authority and criteria

-The ability to negotiate the settlement of claims within an agreed authority limit or under referral where required maintaining a cost effective approach to claims settlements and to keep spend low

-Capability of utilising claims systems to maintain an accurate claim, accurately reserve cases and maintain an effective diary

-The expertise and drive to maintain claims costs through pro-active management
