Job Overview

• To support the Finance Senior Manager in the preparation and administration of the management information (including accounts) of the Dains Group of companies, maintaining a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
• To assist in the preparation of all financial information; supplied on an accurate and timely basis.
• To work closely with the Finance Senior Manager to deliver the Financial function of the practice.
• To prepare management information and account for review to tight deadlines
• To work closely with the Company Partners as required.

General Role

• To assist in the preparation of all financial information; supplied on an accurate and timely basis.
Making sure spending is in line with budgets
Analysing the Dains Group financial performance and making longer term forecasts
Working with all departments and the Partners to help make financial decisions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• To produce the management accounts for the Dains Group of companies for review within set timescales, including reconciliation of all control accounts.
• To assist in the preparation of the statutory accounts ensuring that these are complete in accordance with best auditing practice.
• To support the Finance Senior Manager in dealings with the Auditors.
• To produce key performance reports in a timely manner; including but not limited to, WIP and debtor review, billing and recoveries, chargeable hours performance, bank funding report and cash-flow projections.
• To prepare monthly statistical information for the practice and to use analytical procedures and accounting ratios and other benchmarking techniques to assess the viability of the performance within Dains; advising the Finance Senior Manager accordingly.
• To prepare inter-department and inter-company transfers monthly; this includes time for LLP staff working on assignments other than their primary responsibility.
• To maintain and generally monitor the time and fees ledger information; specifically in relation to staffing (including but not limited to charge-out rates, chargeable hours information and budgets) and to report on any inconsistencies.
• To assist in the production of financial budgets.
To prepare quarterly VAT returns for the group companies

Qualifications / Technical

• A professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is mandatory; suitable equivalents will be considered subject to sufficient experience. CPD to the requirement of the professional qualification must be maintained.
• To have an awareness of tax knowledge (Sch D and VAT) and the affects of these taxes on a set of accounts, to ensure Dains complies with current legislation.
• To have an awareness of the technical aspects concerning a set of LLP, limited company accounts, including presentation of the file.
• To have an awareness of current UK auditing and accounting standards.
• To have a basic knowledge of accounting computerised software and systems operated by the internal Finance team (e.g. Opera, XRL, Sage, Sage Winforecast, etc).
• To have an excellent understanding of relevant Microsoft Office software, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel and any other packages relevant to the role.
You will be expected to keep up to date technically by attending courses (internal and external) to aid you in the capacity to fulfil your role.
