Bird & Bird is a highly respected international law firm. But that's only part of the story. We've built our reputation not only on exceptional legal expertise, but also on our ability to think beyond the details of law to meet our clients' needs. We have over 1,200 lawyers worldwide working as a single, cohesive team across 28 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. In other parts of the world we work with a network of trusted partners, giving us genuine global reach.

The firm offers excellent prospects for progression and our culture provides all our people with world-class support to achieve their ambitions and goals. Bird & Bird is committed to maintaining an inclusive work environment. It is the policy of Bird & Bird to consider all candidates fairly, regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age or disability. We support an agile working environment and are happy to discuss flexible working.

Our International Real Estate Group provides specialist advice and support across a wide range of real estate transactions to major domestic and international businesses, developers, investment funds, banks, public sector bodies and organisations working in the technology, communications and energy sectors.

We regularly advise on cross-border transactions, and our involvement is carefully managed to ensure there is continuity of client care as well as local expertise at every stage of the transaction.

Much of our work has a multi-disciplinary flavour, although everyone involved has a specialist understanding of the real estate sector. Complex structures, such as REITs, limited partnerships, unit trusts or open and closed ended funds involve close cooperation with tax, finance and corporate law specialists; while other transactions require expertise in PFI/PPP, construction, outsourcing, dispute resolution and other legal disciplines.

In fact, team work is one of our strengths: we pride ourselves on our ability to form successful working relationships not only with our clients, but with valuers, surveyors and other advisers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the Real Estate group, the successful candidate will act for a broad range of clients, undertaking challenging transactional work where specialist real estate advice is required. There will be a significant amount of responsibility and client contact given to the right candidate, with excellent opportunities for progression. In addition, all our Associates are expected to support the wider activities of the group, including business development and knowledge sharing.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Candidates will need to be highly motivated and keen to take responsibility. We are looking for lawyers who are technically excellent and with the ability to apply their legal skills in a practical way. Candidates will currently be operating at the Mid Associate level.
