Job Description

Job Title: Business Manager

Grade: NJC Grade SO2  SCP 32 - 34 (£28,203 - £29,854)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Responsible to: Chair and the Board of Trustees

Job Purpose:

To play a key role in the development and implementation of the Strategic and Business Plans of the charity, which will include exploring income diversification opportunities and securing additional funding.

To lead and manage staff within the SSNMH organisation, ensuring that the service is successful in achieving its strategic outcomes.

To support the Board of Trustees in governance of the charity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

With the support of the Operations Management, lead the SSNMH Team to ensure that all the contracts and service delivery plans are fulfilled in accordance with the requirements imposed by our funders and all relevant monitoring requirements are undertaken.

To take overall responsibility for the performance management of all team members and lead on the recruitment of new team members in conjunction with the Board and in accordance with employment law and good employment practice. Ensure team members are sufficiently trained for their roles, and promote a positive, motivating work environment

Work with strategic partnerships.  Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders within the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors who are integral to the emotional and mental wellbeing of people within Staffordshire. To influence and be influenced by strategic partnerships.

To lead in the development of training and programme management to supplement the income of the charity.

To take lead responsibility for the overall marketing and promotion of the charity ensuring that the necessary communication platforms are operational.

To facilitate the development and implementation of the SSNMH Strategic Plan and Business Plan in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.

To take the lead in investigating potential grant funding and service contract opportunities, as guided by charitable aims and objects; compiling relevant bids to ensure the sustained delivery and expansion of SSNMH activities, as directed by the Board.

To manage individual stand-alone projects, programmes and services which may come on stream from time to time. To ensure the charity, projects and services stay within allocated budgets and in conjunction with the Treasurer and Board of Trustees and ensure compliance with the Financial Procedures.

To ensure accurate and timely written and verbal reports are submitted to the SSNMH team, Board of Trustees, funders and regulatory bodies as required.

To prepare the Annual report and the arrangements of the AGM with reference to the Board of Trustees.

To have overall responsibility for the SSNMH Policies and Procedures, ensuring that they are legal, up to date and fit for purpose, including producing a review schedule.  Cascade policies to the team following up where necessary to confirm understanding.

Take responsibility to ensure all duties and legal requirements associated with Company House, Charity Commission, and Office of Data Commissioner and the duties of the Secretary to the Board of Trustees are met.

To take overall responsibility for Finance, administration and IT matters, ensuring compliance with SSNMH policy and procedures.  

To undertake any other duties required by the Board of Trustees which are commensurate with the grading of the post.
