Our client, a school in West London is seeking a Design Workshop Technician. This positon is an immediate start, and is long term to cover a vacancy.

Job responsibilities:
- Daily routine maintenance and monitoring of tools and equipment
- Ensuring the workshop is clean, tidy and safe at the end of every School day
- Spotting defects/equipment failure, drawing them to the attention of the teacher, and proactively taking steps to rectify these faults
- Preparing and setting up materials and equipment for lessons
- Assisting the art teachers in the workshop and studios
- Assisting with large teaching groups in the department
- Organising, tidying and cleaning the workshop, studios and storage areas as required
- Working with the teachers responsible for 3d design, sculpture and printmaking on stock and budgeting
- Assistance with the construction of sculptural armatures and plinths
- Assisting in setting up exhibitions, mounting work and picture framing as required
- Mounting and displaying students? work throughout the School as requested
- Updating the Art Department section of the school website (no experience necessary)
- Ensuring that first aid boxes in studios and workshops are kept fully stocked
- Preparing Risk Assessments for equipment and processes in consultation with teaching staff
- Assisting with the implementation of the School?s Health & Safety Policy for Art & Design
Skills and attributes:
- Art degree or related degree is essential
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- To have good organisational skills
- To be able to work well individually, as well as a team
- Able to use a range of tools and machinery
- Competent in wood, metal, sculpturing
