LOCATION: Scarborough JOB TITLE: General Manager SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP26,000 - GBP30,000 per annum + attractive bonus scheme WORKING HOURS: 44 hours per week, although will need to be available to suit the needs and demands of the business and sector, which could uplift this to 50 - 55 hours per week. THE COMPANY: Our client is a high end Gastro pub based just outside of Scarborough that offers cottage lettings for guests. The establishment itself has been going strong for eleven years falls under the umbrella of an Entertainment group that boasts the title of the UK's second largest regional theatre and concert hall operator, with 11 sites and extensive food and drink provision throughout the UK. THE ROLE: An experienced General Manager is sought to work with the owners and the senior management team to run the establishment with a hands on approach to leadership. As General Manager you will have the opportunity to be instrumental in the successful operation of this Gastro Pub, from recruiting the front of house staff that will support you, to ensuring that the business is financially and commercially viable. You will be responsible for the deliverance of a business with a high emphasis on exceptional customer service and managing the business from top to bottom, treating it as your own. Key Responsibilities to include:- General Manager (Scarborough) • Opening and closing of the business.• Recruitment and training of the staff - before the opening of the establishment, and managing this as and when required when in operation.• Regular financial reporting of the business.• Developing the business commercially, and seizing opportunities to maximise exposure of the business.• Controlling the budget and spending within the agreed budgetary structure.• Leading on the continuous development of the menu and the food and beverages served• Developing, and ensuring that the staff are up-to-date with the product knowledge and the services of the establishment.• Leading by example with an exceptional level of service at all times.• Managing the finances of the business in all areas and ensuring that the business is commercially and financially viable. THE CANDIDATE: As General Manager you will be working closely with the owners and the senior management team to mobilise, and then to manage the establishment hands on and essentially be the face of the company. Ideally you will be experienced in managing a high end restaurant with rooms and you must have a track record of excellence in customer service. Key experience essential for the role: General Manager (Scarborough) Essential criteria:• Must have an experience of managing a restaurant - preferably with rooms.• Must be prepared to re-locate if you are not local to the Scarborough Area.• Must be proficient with Microsoft excel for the purposes of financial reporting Desirable criteria:• A driving license would be desirable for this position.• Experience within a high end establishment would be preferential.• A manager with a hands on approach, who can lead by example.• Previous experience of developing a menu, both the food and the beverages.
