An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Business Advisor
(Licensing) Officer in Regulatory Services. You will process applications for all types of licence, and respond to breaches of conditions and un-licensed activity, in accordance with legal requirements and the procedures and policies of the Borough Council. The post is part of a service which is committed to supporting businesses and the local economy, while ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and visitors.

The Borough Council has just been awarded the prestigious Purple Flag status for its night time economy.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative, working to timescales and achieving targets, the ability to work effectively with others and under minimal supervision is also essential.

A flexible approach is required as occasional evening and weekend work
is required.

Previous Licensing and associated enforcement experience is desirable.

The main duties of the role will include:

  • ensuring that licensed premises and vehicles are safe for public use ensuring licenses are only granted in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements
  • ensuring licensable activities are carried on in accordance with legislation, policies and conditions
  • providing an efficient and effective service to agreed performance targets
  • assisting in promoting the local economy while ensuring the well-being of residents and visitors.
