2 posts: 1 Mechanical, 1 Electrical

Howdens Joinery, founded in 1995, is a leading supplier of kitchens and joinery to trade customers across the UK. In its first year of operation it had just 14 depots and sales of £1m. Today, Howden Joinery Group has grown to become the UK's leading supplier of kitchens with annual sales of over £1.2 billion, employing over 8,000 staff in over 600 depots nationwide. A winning formula that everyone connected with can call their own.

As a Maintenance Fitter reporting to our Engineering Management Team, you’ll be responsible for providing breakdown, preventative maintenance cover and installation work throughout the site, working within a Continuous Improvement environment. Adhering to safe working practices and ensuring Health & Safety compliance, you’ll be involved in new work and installation, using current regulations as a benchmark. Helping install and upgrade equipment and working within a permit to work system, as a Maintenance Fitter you’ll also:
• document and collate any routine maintenance information and support the PPM
• collate data on plant and equipment, entering it electronically
• support and engage with Lean manufacturing techniques.

A time-served Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer, you must have completed a recognised apprenticeship, ideally with supplementary qualifications, and engaged in continuous professional development. You’ll also need a proven maintenance track record within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably encompassing CNC experience. Strong on communication, teamwork and planning your workload, you’re highly quality-conscious, even when working under pressure in hazardous environments. You’ll need to be capable of operating MEWP and FLT, access platforms and associated machinery following training. Agile and alert, with good co-ordination, you’re also:
• capable of making technical engineering decisions on plant and equipment safety
• flexible enough to meet production demands, when occasional long/unsociable hours are required at short notice.

Hours of work for both roles: 40 hours per week

On offer is a competitive salary & benefits package, supported by excellent training and development programmes. As well as the opportunity to develop within a pioneering area of the business for a high profile FTSE 250 company, you will be part of a rewarding organisation recognised for excellence in the workplace in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For.
