We’re looking for results-driven individual with experience of managing an advice or support service to join us as a Team Leader and lead the delivery of a resettlement service at a number of HMP sites.

Shelter’s custodial resettlement service in prisons across Humberside, Lincolnshire & North Yorkshire

helps prisoners to keep, access and improve their current accommodation, financial and employment position. Supporting a reduction in the risk of reoffending upon release by working closely with partner agencies and key stakeholders, our aim is to improve the opportunities for each and every offender on release.

Benefits include 30 days annual leave, the possibility of flexible working and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring we meet our contractual targets by leading, managing and supporting a multi-location team of Resettlement Workers based in prisons across the region
  • Providing support with complex cases and taking on complex casework where necessary
  • Overseeing all quality and monitoring systems and making sure housing, finance and debt advice interventions are delivered in line with Shelter’s operating framework
  • Building positive relationships with resettlement contract partners and operational stakeholders to maximise efficiencies.

And what you’ll need:

  • Recent experience of working within the Criminal Justice System, quality monitoring a service and line-managing a team, including their performance and development
  • A proven background of providing housing law and debt advice and an understanding of the main issues affecting homelessness and offenders
  • Commercial awareness, lots of initiative, respect for others opinions, great relationship building and communication skills and a proactive and collaborative approach
  • Good typing skills and proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Please note that because some of the locations are difficult to reach by public transport, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle with relevant insurance would be preferred.
