3 Years Fixed Term Contract, Part-time – 24 hours per week (4 days per week)

Housingrecruit.com is advertising for a Youth Employability Mentor on behalf of their client, a leading social housing provider based in Preston.

Further to the recent approval of a funding application for the ‘Invest In Youth’ Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project, the Group are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic person to work with the hardest to reach young people in their communities that are not already engaged in statutory provision and work. The post holder will support these young people to find routes into employment, volunteering or further learning activities. Your time will be split equally between the Preston neighbourhoods and Hyndburn neighbourhoods, where you will work as part of the existing Community Investment teams. Funding for the role is available for 3 years where after further funding will be sought but is not guaranteed. The role is funded through the Invest in Youth project funded by the Big Lottery and European Social Fund.

For this Youth Employability Mentor role, you will have experience of working with young people and supporting them into employment, education and training, a good understanding of the principles underpinning the BBO Invest in Youth programme, and of the issues relating to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. You will also have a knowledge and understanding of support services available locally and the ability to communicate effectively with young people to inspire and encourage them to reach their full potential.
