This is an opportunity to join a fast growing company in an analyst role that will offer direct exposure to high level figures within the power industry. The company typically interacts directly with directors, owners and investors, and with a relatively small team they would expect any applicant to be comfortable within such an environment.

Where a candidate lacks experience this will be taken into account as part of their application, with the focus being on finding an ambitious and highly talented candidate. The company is happy to support such a candidate through their development having taken on graduates for similar roles before, although self-drive will be required in order to succeed in the role.

This company provides consultancy, support and software systems to the energy industry. Based near Yarm in the North East of England, the company is achieving rapid growth in the sector delivering value enhancing analysis to operators and investors.

The role involves working in a team providing industry reports, developing innovative forecasting and decision support real time tools and providing bespoke analysis so inform investors and operators investing in and participating in energy and commodity markets and sectors. Candidates will not be expected to have market knowledge, but an ability to process and recall data and information will be a core requirement and the candidate will need to be comfortable working in new and unfamiliar areas.

This is ultimately a flexible role. Their regular reports utilise a high level of automation and their goal is to combine software and insight to offer a unique capability and service set; this combination of software and analysis is the basis for the role. The ideal candidate would make their mark within this role before either expanding the responsibilities as they grow across Europe or by creating their own new role within their company.

The ideal background / qualifications would be in energy, mathematics, economics, engineering, science, banking or similar with experience of handling large data sets and extracting meaningful relationships between data items and converting this into cogent analysis and reports for use at senior management to board level. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are necessary and experience in the use of other computational mathematics analysis packages and software/algorithm coding a distinct advantage. Applicants must be self-motivated, highly numerate with excellent analysis, problem solving and report writing skills.

To progress in the role a candidate will need to be driven and adaptable to use their strengths and push outside of any comfort zones to achieve success for themselves and the company. Entry onto the company employee options scheme is available for those that shine.
