The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint an outstanding research and development IT leader, to shape and deliver the provision of IT Services to its world-class research community. The Head of Research IT will take a hands-on role in ensuring the delivery of pragmatic, efficient IT services to its diverse research community. The University of Manchester has a rich heritage and an exciting agenda for the future. Many major advances began here, including the birth of the computer and the discovery of Graphene. This role offers the opportunity to deliver the efficient technology landscape which could underpin the next breakthrough. The quality, breadth and volume of research activity at Manchester is well known, yet the University has an aim to make its research more impactful. To deliver this aim the Research IT team will need to deliver high-quality, fast-paced technology services to the research community. The Research IT team needs an exceptional IT leader with the ability to support researchers in driving value from R&D activity to lead it forward. The Role: - Operate as a senior leader within the University but act as trusted partner to the research community in particular, foster positive relationships with key research stakeholders. Demonstrate the 'art of the possible' shape the future and manage demand for Research IT. - Mould a high-performing Research IT offering, make it easy to engage with and capable of delivering a demonstrable uptick in research efficiency and competitive advantage allowing Manchester to compete with its peers on the world stage. - Provide leadership to the Research IT team promoting the sharing of knowledge across the wider IT teams. Drive clarity, focus and efficiency of process and act as a beacon of good practice based on contemporary industry research IT provision.
