Position: Property Underwriter
Location: Leeds
Job type: Permanent, full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Circa GBP20k - GBP25k per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
About the role:
Are you an experienced, processed focused, logical thinking Property Underwriter and would like to work for their industry award winning company and build on your existing career and maintain their quality standards?
You will assist the Senior Underwriters and ensure that the underwriting functions operate effectively and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- To underwrite applications within agreed SLA`s
- GBP499k mandate level once competent
- Accountability for own underwriting decisions
- Liaise with valuers, solicitors and intermediaries as appropriate
- Liaise with internal Case Handlers to progress cases through to completion
- Ensure that all business written complies with the Company`s and funder`s lending criteria
- To ensure that all client files are always complete and up to date
- Adhere to all money laundering, data protection and other regulatory requirements
- Ensure all applications comply with Equity Release Council Guidelines
- Report any concerns over underwriting issues to Senior Underwriter
- Provide MI as appropriate
- Contribute to the development of Company`s TCF policy and T&C regime

You will be a presentable and highly organised individual with a keen attention to detail and a diligent, analytical and methodical approach to your work. You will be an effective communicator, able to deal with colleagues, clients, brokers, valuers and solicitors in a professional and confident manner. You will be able to prioritise and work to strict deadlines. The essential experience required for this position is as follows:
- Financial services mortgage underwriting experience
- Analytical and methodical thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office
Desired experience:
- Equity release experience
- CeMAP
- CeRER
