This manufacturing division of a nationwide company responsible for the design, production and installation of standard and bespoke partitioning products are looking to recruit a Works Manager.

The Works Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all staff and operations within the warehouse to ensure that it is run in an efficient and reliable manner, and in accordance with company standards and health and safety legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

- To manage and oversee all operations and activities undertaken within the warehouse to ensure that they are run in a smooth, efficient and reliable manner in line with Company standards and vision.
- To lead, manage and oversee the work of all warehouse staff including all aspects of staff training and management.
- To ensure all warehouse activities including stock control, materials handling, manufacturing, packaging and deliveries are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
- To manage warehouse layout and space utilisation
- To ensure that all the warehouse demands and deadlines are met
- To initiate, co-ordinate and oversee operational policies and procedures
- To ensure that all requirements under health and safety legislation are adhered to
- To ensure ongoing maintenance of all warehouse machinery and equipment and to ensure any issues are investigated and fixed in a timely manner
- To assist the Production Engineer to identify potential improvements in the manufacturing process and to assist in leading a culture of continuous process improvement
- To produce reports and statistics on warehouse performance as required
- To assist the General Manager in any other areas of day to day operations in accordance with Company standards as required
- Exercise own judgement and initiative and work with limited supervision

Person Specification

- Proven record of managing staff and operations in a supply orientated industry
- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practice
- Experience of complying with health and safety legislation
- Good communications skills and an ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
- Good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise tasks
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a hands on environment
- Self-motivated and able to use initiative
- Ability to work effectively and responsibly without supervision
- Awareness of confidentiality issues, including a sense of discretion
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to own personal development within the role
- An interest in the business


- Previous experience of working as a Works / Warehouse Manager
- GCSE English & Maths
- Good IT skills
- HND / Degree in logistics, supply chain or business administration
- Relevant Health & Safety qualifications or experience
