This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing, dynamic company. They are currently seeking an experienced Test Development Engineer who will further strengthen their team based in Barnsley.
The Test Development Engineer is a multi functional role involved in the development and testing of multiple mechanical and electronic turbocharger components. This role offers the opportunity to apply engineering skills associated with preparing turbochargers for verification testing in addition to the development of mechanical components and electric actuators
Test preparatory work may involve a variety of tasks including prototype assembly, fabrication of fixtures, measurement instrumentation, turbo installation in vehicles and testing of turbocharger parts in vehicles and rigs.
Product Development duties will primarily focus on electromechanical products in addition to mechanical turbo parts taking them from project inception through to production launch.
Responsibilities include:
- Test preparatory work
- Prototype assembly
- Fabrication of fixtures, brackets, heatshields
- Construction and wiring & installation of measurement instrumentation
- Turbo installation in vehicles and other test rigs
- Testing of turbocharger parts in vehicle and test rigs
- Maintenance of test equipment
- OBD Fault diagnosis
- Preparation of engineering 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
- Operate measuring equipment to aid the design and product inspection processes
- Plan and execute product testing
The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in an associated engineering/mechatronic discipline and ideally qualified to NVQ Level 3 Vehicle Repair/maintenance.
It is essential that candidates have an Automotive engineering industry background along with:
- Experience in product design and development
- Vehicle and engine systems
- Vehicle repair experience and OBD fault diagnostics
- Mechatronics knowledge to define requirements specifications, design, development, testing and fault diagnostics
- Familiar with design modelling methods
- Good knowledge of 2D/3D CAD modelling ideally Solid Works and/or AutoCAD
- Measurement instrumentation
- Product testing

They operate manufacturing sites in the UK and China, with sales and distribution from the UK Head Office as well as facilities in Poland and USA.
