Role Profile

Living Wage Allowance

North Ayrshire Council supports the Scottish Government’s ‘Living Wage’ initiative, which provides that all employees should earn at least £8.33 per hour. Therefore, successful applicants will be paid the ‘Living Wage’ - (the Hourly Rate for the post + a Living Wage Pay Supplement, in order to bring their earnings to £8.33 per hour).


To provide caretaking cover, porterage and security within community halls and centres throughout North Ayrshire Council


Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council’s Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Security of premises and its contents, including the operation and testing of alarm systems.
  • Key holding responsibilities.
  • Cleaning of premises and environs to agreed standards.
  • Safe operation and day to day inspection and maintenance of plant equipment, including logging and reporting all repair and maintenance requirements when appropriate.
  • Porterage and general maintenance duties.
  • Completion of gas and electricity meter readings on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for all health and safety matters in relation to use of the building, including carrying out and recording fire drills with patrons, weekly tests of fire systems and reporting of accidents
  • Preparation of premises for lessees including setting up and taking down of equipment.
