SCOPE OF ROLE:

The main purpose of the role is to assist the buyer in building the range, and the follow through and that the department runs smoothly. Liaising with suppliers managing critical path dates with fits and production samples so time deliveries are achieved. As well as taking on an area of their own responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Raise and complete all orders and send all relevant information through to suppliers
  • Work closely with suppliers negotiating cost prices and deliveries on behalf of the buyer
  • Attend and assist the buyer in all aspects of Building a commercial range
  • Daily liaison with supplier base, handling all queries, and critical path chasing.
  • Chase development samples and first fit samples from Buyers meetings / orders placed
  • Maintain, monitor and update critical path document. Keep all order details up to date and amend and re-issue orders if needed. Anticipate any problems with deliveries and keep buyer up to date with any key issue.
  • Arrange and attend fit meetings. Make fit notes on all garments and communicate back to suppliers. Request further samples as needed
  • Manage the approval process. Go through all approvals in a timely manner with buyer and update suppliers accordingly
  • Approve production samples. Ensure that pre-production samples are received in time for approval and ensure that the garment, times and labelling is all sufficient
  • Work with Buyer on forthcoming season trends and colour palettes. Put together trend boards to brief suppliers
  • Collate all information required for Budget / Planning meetings

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience of a fashion retail environment with a quality brand
  • Knowledge and understanding of High Street fashion
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to tasks
