My client is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe, employing some 47,500 people and delivering more than 1.5 billion passenger journeys across 12 European countries every year.

Committed to Continuous Improvement and aiming to deliver the highest possible standards of engineering quality and performance for our customers, they are seeking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Engineer who will report initially to the Regional Engineering Director.

The primary purpose of this role is to:

Provide a focal point for the implementation and support of Engineering improvement initiatives and Best Practice transfer across the Region.

The key responsibilities of this position will be to:

  • Deploy to Depots across the region and support the implementation of business improvement and change activities in order to improve engineering efficiency and standards.
  • Actively seek out Best Practice, emerging technologies and techniques from across the region and the wider bus industry and other relevant industry sectors.
  • Coordinate implementation of relevant Best Practice internally across the region, providing support to Heads of Engineering, Engineering Managers and engineering staff.
  • Provide specialist Diagnostic and technical support to Depots when needed with the aim of making Depots self-sufficient in this respect.
  • Identify equipment and/or training opportunities to optimise engineering performance.
  • Lead where required on new technologies and techniques through depot trials or experiments and present all findings to senior management.
  • Monitor all incident investigations, H&S and engineering audits, identify lessons learned and support the Depot Teams in developing and completing relevant action plans.
  • Assist the depot teams where required in the development and implementation of action plans to address issues raised through technical bulletins & OEM recalls.
  • Support the standardisation of engineering processes and procedures for the Region.
  • If required for short periods and with the agreement of the Regional ED, act as temporary cover for engineering management and supervision roles.
  • Support the development and implementation of future safety, environmental & maintenance strategies.

The role offers a competitive salary, contributory pension scheme and concessionary travel.

The role also has use of a company car, so a clean driving licence is essential.
