About the Company

This is a perfect opportunity for a step-change from a middle management level to top management level. The perfect candidate must be a mid-to-high-level Sales/Business development executive with a client base from Industrial Battery Sector. This is a start-up company that will be active in the industrial battery business, to be based around London. Hence, it requires an entrepreneurial and ambitious person to start and develop the business. Remuneration includes salary and an unlimited upside in profit-participation.

About the Role

The person's role will be mainly centred around Business Development and Client attraction and retention, alongside general business management tasks. They are looking for mid / senior level Sales/Business Development Executive from an Industrial Battery (especially traction industry or forklift supplies) industry. Preferably with large contact base and personal relations among Clients (and potentially other sectors using large lead-acid battery). You will have the responsibility to lead the company from start-up stage to growth and development in the UK.

Responsibilities

It's essential that you have strong traction battery sales experience. A start-up-to-growth experience is desirable but not essential. As a Managing Director, you will be reporting directly to the company founders and shareholders, and will be expected to be:

- Perform under KPI guidelines set by shareholders.
- Plan and execute all start-up activities, including recruiting junior members of the staff, selecting company premises, supervising equipment purchase and installation, early-stage business planning and budgeting.
- Kick-starting aggressive sales and business development
- Developing client base and customer relations
- Business development will take a large part of the time of this person, where you will be targeting large and medium enterprise clients in the Traction, Telecommunication and Other sectors.
- Ensuring full compliance with environmental safety, statutory and regulatory requirements
- Closely monitoring financial results against plans and budgets.
- Developing maintenance and after-sales offering.

Desired skills and Experience

- Must have sales experience of 5+ years, preferably in Traction (especially Forklift and Telecom) battery sales or battery refurbishment sector. In-depth knowledge of lead acid battery market and contact base among potential end clients.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Engineering background with deep technical knowledge of lead-acid batteries. Technical engineering education and a strong understanding of battery manufacturing process.
- Energetic, entrepreneurial, risk-taking, ambitious, "go-getter" personality, would love a challenge of starting up a company and growing it to become one of the largest players in the UK and Ireland
- Some management experience and leadership skills, self-discipline is a plus.
- System/control-oriented, ability to build a business from scratch by imposing right.
- Ability to motivate a workforce.
- Complex problem-solving skills and effective decision-making.
- Some business cost control and financial acumen.
