PHP Developer – MySQL, JavaScript
Shipley, West Yorkshire
Up to £40,000 DOE Plus Profit Share Scheme, Cycle and Computing Schemes, BUPA Healthcare, Social Events

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a PHP Developer to join our client, a leading provider of cloud-based applications within the vehicle leasing, rental and automotive industry.

If you’re a forward-thinking developer with strong PHP, MySQL and modern JavaScript skills, this is a brilliant opportunity to take on your next challenge with a fast-growing company.

Passionate about innovation, our client offers a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture where anything is possible, hard work is rewarded and employees are encouraged to ‘think big’.

As a PHP Developer, you will be tasked with improving our client’s award-winning web applications.

Joining the company’s Product Teams, you’ll focus on adding new functionality to applications that replace business processes and maximise user productivity. You’ll investigate any system performance issues and discover new ways of providing a better experience for users.

Your other duties will include:

- Participating in product development and technical idea sessions
- Engaging in peer code reviews to improve team capability and quality
- Building new features and deploying systems to customers

Think you’re up to the challenge? If so, you must have a diligent approach to security and scalability and experience of the following:

- User-focused application design
- PHP5.3+ and its use in OO MVC
- MySQL relational database design and query writing
- Modern JavaScript, such as jQuery, AJAX and JS frameworks
- Cross browser or device HTML and CSS

As a PHP Developer, you must be innovative, fresh-thinking and ambitious with excellent problem solving skills and a great eye for detail.

Whilst not essential, experience of version control would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of using CSS pre-processors and templating engines. Experience of Apache and MySQL performance tuning would also be advantageous.
