Our client is the national professional association for dentists in the UK. This is a challenging and dynamic period for dentistry and the association is recruiting an Associate Editor-in-Chief to co-ordinate editorial and news content across their journals and other communications channels.

Job Role:

This is a full-time post based in central London. The post-holder will be responsible for commissioning, writing and editing articles across the association's portfolio, in particular for the members' magazine. They will proof read the magazine and other content to ensure quality of copy and design; facilitate regular editorial meetings with relevant colleagues and the publishing partners, Springer Nature; and contribute news content for the website. The successful candidate will need to develop and sustain excellent links with colleagues across the organisation and Springer Nature to ensure that the portfolio promotes the full range of the organisation's activity; keep up-to-date with current developments in dentistry and develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dento-political scene; ensure that the magazine is published on schedule and distributed on time; and contribute news content to the regular electronic communications with members.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate should have significant experience of editorial functions in regard to the regular publication of a professional or similar journal; good knowledge of the different stages in the production of a regular journal; advanced knowledge of the professional and political environment in which the company operates and an appreciation of issues that will translate into news or feature content; effective writing skills for both journals and electronic communications formats; and the ability to manage a wide range of task and a varied workload, and be flexible in approach.
