A leading chemical development business based in Essex is currently recruiting an Analytical Chemist to join their state-of-the-art facilities and take overall responsibility for the analysis of raw speciality chemicals. You will play a key part in the analysis of new components (HPLC/GCMS), maintenance of analytical equipment and provide technical expertise when required.
Analytical Chemist Responsibilities
- To maintain and keep calibrated the analytical and testing equipment, minimise equipment down time, trouble shoot issue regarding Instrument/equipment/test methods and provide the necessary specialist technical support as required.
- Undertake analysis on a range of raw chemical samples using primarily HPLC & GC-MS instruments.
- Monitoring the SQC check sample testing programme; taking corrective action when deviation is found.
- Supervise the laboratory consumables procurement and stock management.
- Support the installation of new analytical Instrument/ testing equipment and their commissioning by undertaking documentation of the setup protocols, SOP, training and training records of the users. This includes the development of new test method protocols as the business units require.
- To undertake and/or comply with the testing (in-house and externally), record keeping requirements and statutory obligations required by Environmental Agency site permits for emissions.
- To provide ad-hoc sample testing as presented for analysis. To provide REACH analysis support / monitoring.
Analytical Chemist Requirements
- You must possess a degree qualification in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry or closely related field of study.
- Possess a strong background in analytical problem solving (theoretical & practical) ideally from the chemical industry.
- To work confidently with analytical instruments including HPLC and GC-MS.
- Experience working with minimal supervision in a commercial laboratory.
- Excellent communication and literature skills.
