Payroll Officer
Lincoln/Hybrid
13.02 per hour
Monday-Friday 37 hours between 8 and 5
Contract: 19/08/2024 - 31/01/2025
To assist in providing a comprehensive payroll service to employees every month. You will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service to meet the requirements of the payroll provision.
Duties include:
- Processing payroll data including variable deductions and payments, new starters, changes and leavers, Salary Sacrifice Schemes, mileage and overtime claims to meet monthly deadlines and issue monthly payslips
- Ensuring that accurate staff records are maintained, and the payroll system is updated to reflect changes in personal data
- Preparing documentation and written communications in response to queries
- Ensuring that the data held is sufficient and in a format that meets the legislative requirements for reporting and annual returns for HMRC, NI, and the LGPS
- Undertaking general housekeeping on the payroll system as directed by the Senior Payroll Officer
- Completing necessary documentation arising from payroll and pension information requests
- Producing and issuing P45 and P60 forms
- Processing of overpayments including raising invoices for leavers and liaising with the credit control team
- Undertaking complex payroll checking, coding, calculations and information processing
- Assisting the Senior Payroll Administrator with end-of-year processes to ensure all statutory requirements are met
- Responding to payroll enquiries from customers
- Providing general advice on payroll regulations and systems
- Ensuring that data protection is applied to all employee records and exercising absolute integrity at all times
Who are we looking for?:
- 2-3 years' experience working in a Payroll Team
- Detailed understanding of payroll and pensions legislation, statutory payments and deductions
- Experienced administrator with the ability to interpret and implement payroll legislation
- Customer-focused and strong communicator
- Accurate with attention to detail, particularly when working to tight deadlines
