Coaching vacancies at Hills Road Sixth Form College (Cambridge) Basketball, Cheer and Netball Fixed Term, Part-time, £24.22 per hour.   

Hills Road Sixth Form College is looking for three experienced part-time coaches to coach our basketball teams (both men’s and women’s), our cheer team, and our women’s netball team.

 

All the posts are on a fixed – term contract starting 29th August 2024 and ending May 31st 2025, with potential for contact extension beyond this date.  However, if the season extends into the summer term, then payment will be made for these sessions.

 

Basketball 6 hours per week, £24.22 per hour (£5,368 p.a.)

 

The post is for approximately 6 hours per week. You will be working as a single coach alongside the team captain, running pre-season trials, team coaching and selecting squads. The team plays in AoC Sport leagues and Cup as well as Regional tournaments and nationals. 

 

The men's team trains on Mondays between 12.40 and 14.30 and matches take place on Wednesday afternoons. The women's team will train on Fridays between 16.00 and 18.00. Successful applicant must have a level 2 coaching qualification and have held a driving licence for at least two years (no more than three points). Driving a minibus to weekly fixtures is an integral part of the role, however training will be provided.

 

Cheer 1 hour per week, £24.22 per hour (£895 p.a.)

 

The post is for approximately one hour per week. You will be working as a solo coach alongside the team captain, running pre-season trials, team coaching and selecting squads. The team take parts in a number of cheer competitions throughout the year.

 

The team trains on Tuesday between 11.35am and 12.35pm. The successful applicant must a cheer or gymnastic coaching qualification and have held a driving licence for at least two years (no more than three points). Driving a minibus to weekly fixtures is an integral part of the role, however training will be provided.

 

Netball 6 hours per week, £24.22 per hour (£5,368 p.a.)

 

The post is a maternity cover for approximately six hours per week. You will be coaching our college women’s netball team.   This involves working alongside another coach, running pre-season trials, team coaching and selecting squads. The team plays in AoC Sport leagues, cup and regional tournaments. 

 

The team trains on Tuesdays between 11.35am and 12.40pm and matches take place on Wednesday afternoons. The successful applicant must have a level 2 coaching qualification and have held a driving licence for at least two years (no more than three points). Driving a minibus to weekly fixtures is an integral part of the role, however training will be provided.

 

 

 

The Sport Department at Hills Road Sixth Form College is highly successful.  It works in a supportive environment which values academic as well as sporting excellence.  There are three members of teaching staff delivering A level, four support staff and a further 12 part time staff that contribute to the delivery of the Enrichment programme/College sport.  The College has a strong sporting tradition and runs very successful teams in all major games.  Whilst striving for sporting excellence the Department fully supports sport equity and encourages all students, irrespective of gender and ability, to realise their full potential.  The Department offers a wide variety of sporting activities as part of the Enrichment programme, so that the elite and social player are equally provided for.
