My client is a dynamic and rapidly growing freight/logistics company. As they expand their logistical reach in other countries, they are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Import Clerk to join the team.
This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods across borders.
Responsibilities:
Customs Documentation
- Prepare and review all necessary import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
Customs Clearance
- Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate the smooth clearance of goods through customs, resolving any issues that may arise during the process.
Regulatory Compliance
- Stay informed about changes in import regulations, tariffs, and customs laws, and ensure that the company remains in compliance with all applicable rules.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, freight forwarders, and other relevant parties to ensure timely and accurate information flow regarding shipment status and documentation.
Record Keeping
- Maintain organised and up-to-date records of all import transactions, including customs clearance documents, shipping records, and correspondence.
Problem Resolution
- Proactively identify and address any issues related to import processes, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to find effective solutions.
Cost Management
- Work closely with the finance department to monitor and control import-related costs, ensuring that budgets are adhered to, and cost-saving opportunities are identified.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export operations or a related field.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export procedures.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for customs documentation and tracking.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
