Due to continued growth, we are thrilled to be assisting our client - a forward-thinking, innovative and friendly law firm - in recruiting a Conveyancing Assistant to join their team in Newbury.

The role would suit an experienced conveyancing secretary, alternatively, a paralegal who demonstrates a passion for property work and would like to progress through the firm via a Training Contract.

Duties:

  • To set up new files accurately and efficiently on instructions from the fee earner.
  • To draft straightforward legal documents.
  • To attend to clients both on the telephone and in person.
  • To accurately take and record any messages and pass to the appropriate person without unnecessary delay.
  • To assist with the processing of straightforward re-mortgages and transfers of equity, working with some independence but always supported by the relevant lawyer.
  • To deal with emails and the scanning and copying of documents and correspondence as directed by the lawyers.
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up to date diary.
  • To provide support for other team members as and when required (including holidays and sickness).
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all Firm and client documentation and/or information.
  • To keep up to date with, and where necessary assist with archiving, housekeeping and billing.
  • To undertake any specific training or refresher course as and when required by the Firm.
  • Through the Firm s case management system prepare documents, mortgage deeds and Land Registry searches.
  • To prepare financial statements prior to completion.
  • To ensure that Certificates of Title are given in accordance with Rule 6 of the CML Lenders Handbook under supervision of the lawyer.
  • To ensure completions take place on the prescribed day and liaise with clients on keys and possessions.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of a case management system.
  • Previous experience in the conveyancing process.
  • Excellent client service skills.
