Aspiring Youth Counsellor - Education and Training - Learning Support Assistant LSA role in a specialist provision for boys excluded from their mainstream education.

A school with a real holistic and restorative focus, this LSA role is ideal if you need experience working with vulnerable children who have been subjected to severe trauma.

Education and Training plus outstanding CPD provided.

If you have had previous experience working with vulnerable children and adults, or experience with refugee charities (like Hestia for example), your skills could translate incredibly well into this LSA role. Having an understanding of humanities, the cultural and political issues and values that will have an impact upon boys who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health concerns would be of great value.

To be an Anti-Human Trafficking Outreach Worker, you need a huge amount of empathy, sincerity and developed emotional maturity. This LSA role will certainly build your empathy - there will be safeguarding concerns and issues to deal with this role almost every day - it's a case of understanding where the boys you are working with have come from.

You will gain experience in seeing, then identifying the risks and needs of victims of abuse - both physical and emotional. These skills will cross over into being an Anti-Human Trafficking Outreach Worker. You will have some great days in this role and some of the hardest and upsetting you will ever encounter. It's about building your base of experience.

This is a very challenging role and any experience working with charities like Hestia and Nacro would be of real interest. In this LSA role within a Pupil Referral Unit, you will see safeguarding issues and have to know how you will react in certain contexts. This will help and prepare you in aiding victims of the trauma of rape, sexual abuse or domestic slavery.
